Mark Emblidge

Biography
Mark E. Emblidge is the current State Director of the Communities In Schools of Virginia program; the largest non-profit stay-in-school program in the United States. There, he works with a Board of Directors, co-founded by U.S. Senator George Allen and Governor Mark Warner, to create new CIS programs across the Commonwealth as well as to provide technical assistance to existing CIS programs.

Mr. Emblidge has various Political/Finance experiences; which includes his work as the National Finance Consultant for the Democratic Leadership Council; and as the National Finance Director for both the John Glenn for President Campaign and the Democratic Congressional Campaign. In 1998 Mr. Emblidge received the Virginia Hero, Arthur Ashe Foundation Award.

The Virginia Literacy Foundation's Mission Statement is to serve as an umbrella organization in support of private, volunteer literacy organizations in Virginia, that provide the sero to fourth grade reader witrh one-on-one instruction; to provide funding and technical assistance to these groups; to work in partnership with all public/private literacty organizations to attack illiteracy in the workforce as well as provide family literacy; and, all with the goal of increasing the number of adults being reached with literacy services.
